Habiganj Field

Habiganj gas field lies in Madhabpur upazila under Habiganj district some 100 km away to the direction of northern-east from capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka. This field was also discovered by Pakistan Shell Oil Company in 1963. The structure measures 12x5 square km with a vertical closure of 300 m which has a roughly sub-meridian axis tilted slightly eastward at the northern end. Total recoverable gas reserve of this field re-estimated by Petrobangla is 2,787.00 billion cubic feet (BCF). Commercial gas production from this field was commenced in 1968 and till February 28, 2023 total 2681.958 billion cubic feet or 96.239% percent of reserves has been recovered.

 

10 (ten) nos. wells drilled in this field are vertical and only 01 (one) no. well are deviated type. The wells are spread at 10 (Ten) different locations stretched over about 14 km distance. In February 2023, average 142.06 million cubic feet of gas is produced daily from 7 wells out of 11 wells of this field processing through 6 glycol dehydration plants and supplied to the transmission pipe line of TGTDCL, GTCL and Jalalabad Gas Transmission & Distribution System Ltd. (JGTDSL). About 6.97 bbls condensate is produced daily with gas as by-product. In February 2023, average condensate/gas ratio and water/gas ratio of this field are 0.044 and 1.602 bbl/million cubic feet respectively. Gas production from well no.1, 2, 8 and 9 was suspended due to excessive water and sand production. Condensate of this field is processed by the fractionation plant of Titas gas field.
